Utah sets exit plan for mask mandates, COVID-19 restrictions

SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah Department of Health has set an exit date on which parts of the state can remove mandatory face coverings.

In an interview with FOX 13, UDOH executive director Rich Saunders said that eight weeks after Utah hit 1.63 million primary doses of its assigned COVID-19 vaccine, low-index counties may lift mask mandates. Currently, just over 400,000 primary doses of the administered COVID-19 vaccine are being administered in Utah.
“There’s an epidemiological endpoint that doesn’t have new cases for 28 days and then there has to be more of a practical end-vision that we get to much earlier where we can make some serious adjustments,” he said.
