United Airlines deploys its engine-type fleet of Boeing 777 aircraft on Flight 328
DENVER – United Airlines announced on Sunday that it will ground 24 Pratt & Whitney 4000-series Boeing 777 aircraft that were also involved over the Denver suburb of Broomfield on Saturday.
The Boeing 777-200 in the direction of Honolulu, had a failure of the right engine shortly after the start. The plane turned and returned safely to Denver International Airport. The failure caused the engine’s intake and bonnet to separate, raining debris on a large area of Broomfield, affecting homes and properties in the Northmoor and Red Leaf neighborhoods. Nobody on board or on the ground was injured.
The airline, which currently has 52 of these aircraft in its fleet – 24 active and 28 in storage – said the Boeing 777 had been removed from its schedule …
