President Trump on Wednesday urged the American public not to use force before the inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden and again called for a peaceful transfer of power.

Why it matters: The statement was released as the House debated whether Trump should be charged a second time after the President was accused of instigating the pro-Trump mob that stormed the U.S. Capitol and left five dead last week .
