The South Dakota attorney general faces calls for resignation and impeachment for crashes
South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem on Tuesday urged the attorney general to resign when lawmakers launched impeachment proceedings against him and officials posted videos of police interviews the night he beat and killed a man with his car last year.
Attorney General Jason R. Ravnsborg, who initially informed authorities that he had hit something he believed was most likely a deer, has denied mounting pressure to resign.
Mr. Ravnsborg was charged last week with careless driving, a mobile electronic device, and failure to stay on its lane the night of the accident last September. The allegations are offenses and each include a sentence of up to 30 days in prison and a $ 500 fine.
