Alexis Tiara Murphy On August 3, 2013, she left her Shipman home to visit Lynchburg. The surveillance video showed her at a Lovingston gas station – the last time she was seen alive. Local, state and federal law enforcement agencies were conducting numerous searches at the time of her disappearance, the sheriff’s office said.
Her remains were found on private property in Lovingston on December 3rd and taken to the Chief Medical Examiner in Richmond for positive identification. The remains were identified as Murphy on February 5, 2021, although notification to the community was delayed so that her family had time to grieve and make reasonable arrangements.
