The Cleveland Coast Guard rescues 10 people stranded on an ice floe near the park
Rescue workers and the U.S. Coast Guard received a call around 2:30 p.m. Sunday about a group of people who had stepped out onto the ice of Lake Erie and then broke off into two separate ice floes.
Initial reports said few people were saved, but that was later increased to 10 people, seven of whom were adults and three were children.
The USCG Ice Rescue Team from Cleveland Harbor Station and local authorities were on site. Detroit Air Station also sent a helicopter for assistance.
