The US Air Force announced on Sunday that a flight instructor and a student pilot with the Japanese Air Self Defense Force were killed when a trainer jet crashed in Alabama. The Air Force announced the name of the instructor who died when the T-38C Talon trainer aircraft crashed Friday near Montgomery, Alabama. He was identified as Scot Ames Jr., a 24-year-old flight instructor with the 50th Flight Training Squadron at Columbus Air Force Base, Mississippi. He was from Pekin, Indiana. The student pilot’s name is not currently being published and will be given under Japan’s procedure. The 14th flight training wing is located at Columbus Air Force Base.
