Richter rejects new litigation in Mollie Tibbetts case

A judge on Monday denied a convicted man’s motion for retrial in connection with the 2018 murder of University of Iowa student Mollie Tibbetts, whose body was found in a corn field weeks after her disappearance while she was near hers small hometown was on the way. Judge Joel Yates ‘verdict paved the way for conviction on August 30 of the trial of Cristhian Bahena Rivera, convicted in May of first degree murder in Tibbetts’ death. The former servant, who came to the United States illegally as a teenager, faces life imprisonment. Mollie Tibbetts ‘mother, Laura Calderwood, praised Judge Yates’ judgment on Monday.
