Ocasio-Cortez recounts the unrest in the Capitol and shows that she is a survivor of sexual assault
On her harrowing experience of the January 6 riots at the Capitol for the first time publicly, Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said she was a sexual assault survivor and said she was reminded to “carry on” from last month’s riots “the tactics of the perpetrators.
“These people telling us to move on, that it’s not a big deal, that we forget what happened, or even apologize – that’s the same tactic used by abusers,” she said. “And I am a sexual assault survivor.”
In a live Instagram video on Monday, Ocasio-Cortez shared her memories of January 6, the day President Trump supporters overran the Capitol while lawmakers attended a session to win Joe Biden’s presidential election to confirm.
