North Carolina will no longer issue special Confederate flag license plates
North Carolina According to official information, no special license plates with the Confederate flag will be issued or renewed on Monday.
The state motor vehicle division said the agency had received complaints about signs with the Confederate flag following nationwide protests against George Floyd’s death in Minneapolis.
“The Department of Motor Vehicles has determined that Confederate flag license plates have the potential to offend those who see them,” the agency said in a statement to the Associated Press. “We have therefore concluded that the display of the Confederate flag is unsuitable for display on special license plates that remain the property of the state.”
