Merck scraps Covid-19 vaccine candidates
Merck & Co. announced Monday it was halting development of its two experimental Covid-19 vaccines after early data from clinical trials showed the gunfire elicited disappointing immune responses to the virus.
Early-stage studies of the vaccines showed that they produced poorer immune responses in subjects who were given the shots, compared to those who survived Covid-19 or who took approved Covid-19 vaccines.
The exit removes a major vaccine supplier from the constellation of companies looking for gunshots to contain the spread of the virus, like the few that have been able to get gunshots to market struggle to meet strong demand.
