Senator Josh Hawley, R-Mo., adamantly rejects the idea that he abused his authority or supported a riot by objecting to certification of Electoral College Votes last week.

“This time, anyone who objected was labeled an ‘insurgent’,” Hawley wrote in a Wednesday column for Southeast Missourian.

“Unfortunately, much of the media and many members of the Washington establishment are trying to trick Americans into thinking those who raised concerns by simply raising concerns. That is wrong. And the claim itself is caustic and dangerous.”

He added that “democratic debates are not mob violence. This is how we avoid that violence.”
