The governor’s office will withhold COVID-19 vaccinations from five Iowa counties for the next week. On a call to media outlets, Kelly Garcia, director of the Iowa Department of Public Health, said that each county is required to distribute 80% of its allocated COVID-19 vaccines per week based on its population size. If they don’t give 80% of the vaccines, the county won’t get the vaccine allocation for the next week. Garcia told news outlets that five counties will not get their next COVID-19 vaccinations next week but refused to identify the counties.
