Connecticut governor defends refusal to raise taxes on wealthy people
Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont’s centrist budget has brought him into conflict with a coalition of progressive lawmakers, activists, and unions calling for tax increases to fund a more robust response to the economic crisis.
Mr. Lamont, a Democrat, proposed a two-year spending plan of $ 41.6 billion that included the following Democratic priorities such as the legalization of recreational cannabis and new programs to combat climate change.
