Biden lifts Trump-era ban on blocking legal immigration to the U.S.
SAN DIEGO – President Joe Biden has one on Wednesday freeze on green cards issued by its predecessor during the pandemic, lawyers said blocked most legal immigration to the United States.
Former President Donald Trump stopped issuing green cards until the end of 2020 last spring to protect the coronavirus-ridden labor market – a reason Trump has given to match many of the cuts in legal immigration that came before him escaped the pandemic.
Trump extended these orders on December 31 to the end of March.
Trump had classified immigrants as a “risk to the US labor market” and blocked their entry into the United States by issuing Proclamation 10014 and Proclamation 10052.
