Biden announces the establishment of a Department of Defense task force in China
President Biden, on his first visit to the Pentagon as Commander in Chief, announced the creation of a China Task Force to assess the Department of Defense’s strategies to address China’s challenges.
The task force, led by Defense Secretary’s Special Assistant Dr. Ely Ratner will include up to 15 civil and uniformed Defense Department personnel. It will review the strategy, operational concepts, technology and structure of the armed forces, and defense relations with China.
“It will take a whole bunch of government efforts, bipartisan collaboration in Congress, and close relationships and partnerships,” Biden said. “This is how we will meet the China challenge and ensure that the American people win the competition of the future.”
