2 tourists tried to bribe screeners at Hawaii airport to bypass Covid’s rules
Two people who flew to Hawaii from Louisiana were arrested last week after allegedly trying to bribe themselves out of state-required precautions for Covid-19.
One of the staff screening incoming travelers at Honolulu’s Daniel K. Inouye International Airport alerted authorities after it did so on Friday. according to Hawaii’s Department of Public Security and the Attorney General’s office.
Johntrell White, 29, reportedly told the screener he would offer her $ 2,000 if she would allow him to come by without the mandatory quarantine. Then 28-year-old Nadia Bailey reportedly added that she would throw in an additional $ 1,000 if the screener allowed both of them to go through without quarantine.
None of the travelers had a valid pre-test or an exception from Covid-19, the authorities said.
