South Africa will begin administering the Johnson & Johnson Covid-19 vaccine to healthcare workers on Wednesday, following the arrival of a shipment of the vaccines.
“Health teams worked through the night to distribute the vaccines in most parts of the country,” said South African Medical Research Council Executive Director Glenda Gray in an interview with broadcaster SAfm. “In Cape Town, vaccination will start at 12 pm”
South Africa received an unspecified number of J&J injections overnight and is in talks to purchase an additional 20 million doses.
