Second batch of Johnson & Johnson vaccines coming to South Africa this week: Mkhize
Health Minister Dr. Zweli Mkhize says the next batch of Johnson & Johnson vaccines will arrive in the country this weekend, bringing the total doses in South Africa for phase one of the launch to 160,000.
The first batch of vaccines received 80,000 doses on February 16, and the same number of healthcare workers are expected to be vaccinated two weeks after the crash. The official launch began on February 17.
Presenting himself to parliament on Tuesday (February 23), Mkhize said the country is on track to complete the first 40,000 of these vaccines by Wednesday (February 24), a week later.
He added that the next batch of 80,000 doses of Johnson & Johnson vaccines will arrive this Saturday, February 27, 2021.
