The apartheid assassin Eugene de Kock was taken into custody of the State Security Agency after being paroled for fear of being recruited by right-wing extremists, claims former Minister of Justice and Correctional Services Michael Masutha.

In an exclusive interview with News24, and following evidence from the state’s capture investigation that the SSA spent 200,000 rand a month on De Kock’s accommodation, protection and “salary” after he was released on parole Masutha insists he saw “nothing sinister” in the agency taking custody of the then 66-year-old at the time it agreed.
