Four people are expected to appear in Pretoria Magistrates Court on Friday for the theft of copper worth around R1.9 million.
The four people, believed to be Transnet employees, were arrested following the Pretoria operations last week, Hawks spokesman Capt. Ndivhuwo Mulamu said.
“[The] Hawks Serious Organized Crime Investigation [Unit] in Pretoria carried out an intelligence-driven operation that resulted in the arrest of the four men in [the] Transnet Infrastructure Freight Rail Koedoespoort Depot in Pretoria, “said Mulamu.
The provincial chief, Major General Ebrahim Kadwa, praised the investigation team for its quick response.
