Pretoria – When Joburg resident Susan Church decided to cancel her Discovery Life Limited insurance policy, she had no idea what events would befall her six weeks later.
While on vacation at Sani Pass Lodge, she was invaded by carbon monoxide fumes from a faulty geyser in the showers. She collapsed and died.
Church’s life was insured for at least R3 million, but upon his death this amount was to increase. But the problem was that Church canceled his life policy shortly before his death and wanted to go to another insurer.
When the parents wanted to claim the money, the insurer was adamant that Church had canceled their insurance.
