Bushiri takes legal action against the government of Malawi
JOHANNESBURG – Self-proclaimed prophet and fugitive Shepherd Bushiri is taking legal action against the government of Malawi.
Lawyers for Bushiri and his wife, Mary, say the state violated a court order saying the Bushiri should be summoned to court over their extradition matter next month and not be arrested before then.
It all started last weekend when Bushiri’s daughters, along with their grandmother and another relative, were detained at the Malawi airport while trying to leave for Kenya.
One of the children reportedly needed urgent medical attention in Kenya, but the movement was blocked.
His lawyers say 30 police officers later came to his client’s home to arrest them, but they were not home.
