More than 37,000 Eastern Cape students have been stranded without transportation to schools due to budget cuts from the transportation department.
The 37,247 students were among 124,247 students who had been provided transportation in 2020.
During a school readiness presentation, the education department revealed that only 87,000 will be transported in 2021. It also admitted that there were actually 140,884 students who needed school transportation.
