Twelve people have been detained at Limpopo in connection with alleged disability grant fraud and corruption.
The suspects, aged 31 to 59, were arrested in Tzaneen on Monday in a multidisciplinary takedown operation by the Hawks, police and officials from the South African Social Security Agency (Sassa).
“It is alleged that between 2018 and 2019, Sassa officials conspired with an intermediary to hire non-qualified [sic] people in the Tzaneen area sign up for disability grants at a cost, “said Hawks spokesman Capt. Matimba Maluleke.
