Delays, frustration as travellers re-entering Canada attempt to navigate mandatory hotel quarantines
Travellers attempting to re-enter Canada reported frustration and long phone calls Monday following the launch of mandatory hotel quarantines.
Those looking to return to the country must book a three-day stay in authorized hotels while they await the results of a COVID-19 test. All travellers that need to arrange a hotel stay are directed to call either a toll-free or collect number to book their accommodations.
The number, however, seems largely inaccessible to those trying to follow the new rules. Yuchen Ge, who is flying to Toronto via London, U.K. to begin a new job next month, described waiting for hours on hold, only to be disconnected before she could speak to someone.
Since Friday, the phone line has been clogged, with Ge’s call being disconnected after precisely three hours…
