Calgary police charge man with murder in 13-year-old homicide case

In 2009, police worked with Crime Stoppers on a video recreation of the killing in hopes of bringing more information to light.
Though police couldn’t speak to what specifically caused the case to be re-examined in late 2019, Sgt. Colin Chisholm, with the Calgary Police homicide unit, said things like new technology and people coming forward years after a crime are invaluable in solving old or cold cases.
On Friday, Feb. 5, an unnamed 29-year-old man was arrested in Edmonton and charged with one count of first-degree murder. Police said it does not appear that the victim and the perpetrator knew each other prior to the attack.
