Boy dies in Markham and motorcyclist dies in Brampton in collisions just 30 minutes apart
An 11-year-old boy was killed after being struck by a vehicle in Markham Friday night.
Provincial police say the accident occurred on the northbound ramp of Highway 407 just after 4 p.m.
The child was riding along Warden Avenue and was struck while crossing the ramp that leads to the highway.
Police say the driver involved remained at the scene.
The boy was rushed to hospital with critical injuries and pronounced dead at around 11:14 p.m.
The ramp from Warden Avenue to Highway 407 and the highway’s northbound lanes were blocked, but have since reopened.
About 30 minutes later, a motorcyclist was pronounced dead in Brampton after being hit by a car.
Peel police were called to Bovaird Drive East and Great Lakes Drive at 11:48 p.m. for the collision.
