Sydney man wanted over alleged hotel room hammer attack captured by police in bushland

A Sydney man wanted for the attempted murder of a woman in a luxury hotel room has been captured by police.

The emergency services were called to the Primus Hotel in Pitt Street, in Sydney’s CBD, about 11:00pm on Tuesday.
Paramedics said they discovered a woman unconscious in the bed, suffering serious injuries consistent with being hit several times with a hammer.
“She had sustained serious injuries to her face and head,” Acting NSW Police Superintendent Paul Dunstan said.
“Located inside the room was also what police will describe as a small sledgehammer.”
