‘It is our fear they are inside’: Woman, ex-partner believed dead in unit fire

The relationship of a woman and her former partner feared dead after a suspicious fire gutted a unit south of Brisbane on Monday morning will form part of a police investigation, just weeks after a domestic violence order had been issued by a court.

Chief Superintendent Brian Swan said police had been unable to find a man and a woman, both 49, believed to have been in the scorched unit on Myola Street, Browns Plains.

Emergency services were called to the fire before 4am, which police later said was being treated as deliberately lit based on early investigations.

A silver ute found in a nearby car park, believed to be connected to the man, was also declared a crime…
