Victorians are in for a reprieve, with the Andrews government looking to return the state’s restrictions to those in place at Christmas.

Relaxed mask rules and bigger gatherings at home and outdoors are set to return with the Andrews government looking to reset the restrictions Victoria followed at Christmas.

Senior ministers and the state’s public health team are due to meet on Friday morning to consider a proposal to ­return to the COVID-safe summer conditions in place before the Black Rock cluster.

Among the likely changes is allowing more visitors at home — the present cap is five a day — and dropping the mandatory mask rule when indoors.

Mask-wearing could be ­relaxed so they must be worn only in indoor shopping centres, supermarkets and some big retailers, on public…
