Wanted man’s Facebook post before alleged murder attempt
A man allegedly took to Facebook captioning a hotel room photo ‘game over’ hours before facing allegations he attempted to murder a woman he’d only just met.
NSW Police continue to search for 41-year-old Matthew Donaldson after the incident inside the luxury Primus Hotel in Sydney’s CBD on Tuesday, where he allegedly attacked the woman with a sledgehammer.
Police allege Donaldson fled the hotel and is believed to be armed with a gun and is possibly in the Blue Mountains area west of the city.
A NSW Police spokesperson told Yahoo News Australia on Thursday morning several addresses have been searched without any trace of Donaldson who remains on the run.
The woman, in her 30s, who was unknown to Donaldson, was found unconscious on a hotel bed with serious injuries to her face and head, Acting Superintendent Paul Dunstan told Nine News.
She was taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital where she remains in a serious but stable condition.
Donaldson allegedly shared a photo of his hotel room at the Pitt Street premises with the caption: ‘Game over’.
When asked by someone what he was playing, he allegedly responded: “life or death, I lost”.
One image appears to be taken while lying on the room’s bed, with a bare foot seen in the bottom right of the photo.
Two T-shirts are laid neatly on top of each other on the room’s dining table.
Donaldson is described as about 182cm tall, with a solid build, and light brown hair. NSW Police have released an image of the suspect in their efforts to locate him.
Anyone who sees Donaldson is urged not to approach him but call Triple-0 immediately.
