Matthew Donaldson may be ‘armed and dangerous’: NSW Police
Officers raided a home in Kingswood on Wednesday.
“It’s believed he may be in the Blue Mountains area and may be armed with a firearm,” police said.
According to Mr Donaldson’s Facebook account, he attended Blaxland High School, is an avid gamer and visited a shooting centre in western Sydney five years ago.
He allegedly posted two photos from inside one of the 172 hotel rooms and suites at 9.17pm on Tuesday with the caption: “Game over.”
Asked what game he was playing, he replied: “life or death, I lost.”
Emergency services were called to the hotel following reports that a woman had been hurt about 11pm.
The first of the images appears to be taken from the bed, showing the plush navy carpet, a gaming console next to the TV, and clothes and a backpack spread across the dining table and chairs. The second image is of a double marble bathroom vanity and the shower.
A person claiming to be Mr Donaldson’s best friend, who knew him through gaming, urged him on social media to make contact and said he was in “complete shock” after hearing of the alleged assault.
Police said the woman, who was not known to the man, was found unconscious on a hotel bed with serious injuries to her face and head.
Acting Superintendent Paul Dunstan on Wednesday said the woman was “fortunate to be alive”.
He said police believe Mr Donaldson is “potentially armed, and he is dangerous”.
“Located inside the room was also what police will describe as a small sledgehammer,” he said.
A NSW Ambulance spokeswoman told the Herald two crews were sent to treat the woman who had “cuts to her forehead”.
Paramedics stabilised the woman and took her to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Camperdown.
Anyone who sees Donaldson is urged not to approach him but to contact triple zero immediately.
