A man has been charged after allegedly threatening to kill two of Queensland’s leading figures in the COVID-19 response.

Police allege the 43-year-old Nerang man made threats against Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk and Chief Health Officer Jeannette Young.

He has been charged with one count of using a carriage service to make a threat to kill after a Nerang residence was raided on Wednesday night.

The man is set to appear in Southport Magistrates Court on October 9.

Young earlier said this week the coronavirus response had taken an “enormous toll” on her, as it emerged she had threats against her life and required police protection.

“It has taken an enormous toll on me,” Young said on Monday.

“But then, this has taken an enormous toll on nearly every single person in our community

“Every single person in our community in Queensland has had to give up an awful lot.
